CrashPlan Marketing Development Funds (MDF) For MSPs

How do MSP partners get access to your MDFs?

MSPs requesting CrashPlan MDF are required to be approved partners in our ecosystem. MSPs are welcome to apply at partners.crashplan.com or contact us at [email protected]. Information and details on our MDF, SPIF and other programs are available on our partner portal.

Are there any forms they must fill out?

Yes, the form is simple and provides the necessary details to complete the business case justifying the MDF investment.

What can the MSP use the MDF for?

CrashPlan will consider any reasonable request for MDF that can directly be tied to an MSP growing their CrashPlan-installed base to existing and new clients. Our preference would be active participation in any event where CrashPlan MDF is being used, or some tangible evidence and client exposure for activities that are not face-to-face. We would be happy to provide CrashPlan-branded giveaways and sponsor prizes, so long as there is tangible and measurable evidence that our MSP partner is using this to further promote CrashPlan and grow their CrashPlan practice.

What can’t the MSP use the MDF for?

We will not provide sponsorship for “blind” or non-attributable activities. We will not provide MDF for blatantly expensive or extravagant requests. Other than obvious activities that are of questionable benefit and business value, we are open to ideas that include traditional MDF uses as well as newer concepts.

What is the average/range of funds you give MSPs?

$10 giveaways to $2.5K sponsorships.

Requirements to receive the funds:

MDF KPIs include evidence of specific actions involving MSP solutions directly tied to CrashPlan being introduced and nurtured. The MSP must commit to sales and technical training via our self-paced portal. Frankly, a clear commitment to focus on endpoint backup in general and CrashPlan specifically.

Can you give us one or two examples of success stories of MSPs using your MDFs to gain more MRR?

Our program is new and we are just beginning our journey with MSPs and their plans to expand their endpoint backup solutions with CrashPlan. At this point, we have seen success with sponsored events such as minor-league baseball games, top golf events, distillery tours, lunch and learns, industry events (traditional booth) and after-hours mix-and-mingles with take-home dinners.
