Kaseya’s Dan Tomaszewski Is Driving MSPs Toward a Championship Season

After his family, two of Dan Tomaszewski’s biggest passions—the Detroit Lions and MSPs—have a lot in common.

One of the NFL’s oldest franchises, the Lions have never won a Super Bowl and have more losses than wins on their traditional Thanksgiving Day games. Yet Tomaszewski is unfazed. “You’re not going to find a bigger Detroit Lions fan than this guy right here,” says the executive vice president of channel for Kaseya.

His belief is paying off. With a new coach and quarterback leading the team since 2021, the Lions achieved their first division title in 30 years during the 2023 season and posted a franchise-best 15–2 record in 2024.

Similarly, you’re not going to find a bigger fan of MSPs than Tomaszewski, who successfully launched, grew, and exited his Michigan-based MSP. And he believes, building on Kaseya’s foundation, that MSPs are on the cusp of their own winning trajectory too.

Building Community, Business, and Profits

As an MSP business owner, Tomaszewski learned the importance of sales and marketing and the uplift from being part of a peer group when he joined TMT, which Kaseya recently acquired. After sharing his successful growth strategies on stage at the Better Your Best contest, an annual competition for TMT’s highest level peer group, other MSPs sought him out for advice—which both humbled and inspired him.

Tomaszewski exited his MSP in 2018 and went to ID Agent as vice president of channel success and training. When Kaseya acquired ID Agent, he was charged with developing the Powered Services program, a sales and marketing enablement platform that has helped more than 7,000 MSPs enhance sales objectives and close deals.

Fast forward to 2025. Tomaszewski, now executive vice president of channel, is responsible for gathering feedback from the MSP community and ensuring a persistent focus on amplifying their voice to provide continued customer experience improvements. He is spearheading all of Kaseya’s MSP enablement, bringing together Powered Services, TMT, and TruMethods, which Kaseya acquired in 2021.

Founded by Gary Pica, TruMethods developed an IT ops platform called myITprocess, an IT strategic planning solution that creates client-facing executive summaries, IT roadmaps, and interactive QBR presentations. TruMethods also has the TruMethods Peer groups.

“What we’re building right now has never been done before,” Tomaszewski notes. “We’re uniting two powerhouse communities in TMT and TruMethods Peer into one unstoppable force of MSP enablement. Thousands of MSPs depend on us, not just for tools and templates but for confidence, for strategy, for clarity, and community. With the DNA of TMT’s marketing engine and the proven peer power of TruMethods Peer, we’re about to deliver something that this industry has never seen before in a full-circle ecosystem for MSP growth.”

Notably, Tomaszewski’s mission is to power MSP community success, and the enablement programs and services like TruMethods Peer will be available to all MSPs, not just Kaseya partners.

Community, for Kaseya, extends beyond MSPs too, to the entire channel ecosystem. And while newly appointed CEO Rania Succar says they will continue to build on the Kaseya 365 platform to help MSPs increase efficiency and profits, she told MSP Success in an earlier interview that they would also double down on being part of an open ecosystem.

Tomaszewski echoes that. “It’s a partnership, right? We want to work with all the other vendors that are out there,” he says. “There’s plenty of business for all of us. I don’t think anybody wants to lock MSPs down and say you can only use us. If you find that you use Kaseya 365 and another product that work really well together, that’s great. That’s your choice as the MSP, and we want you to feel really good about the choices, the integrations, the partnerships, the vendors, the support—everything. So I think ecosystem is very important.”

Cracking the Confidence Code

Tomaszewski credits his own success as an MSP business owner to what he learned from being part of the community. Newly married, he started his IT business as mostly break-fix, had not considered the concept of recurring revenue, and jokes that he thought MSP meant Michigan State Police. While he had the passion and drive to be an entrepreneur, his TMT peer group gave him structure and held him accountable for his growth goals. As he puts it, “It lit a fire in me.” He grew from zero to $2 million in a year and a half.

He also knows how hard the sales and marketing aspects of running an MSP can be for owners, who are technologists first. “It has been a problem in this industry for a very long time,” he says.

“If I had a magic wand, I would fix sales and marketing, and we’re trying really damn hard to figure out how we can help MSPs close deals and give them that confidence. They’re all great people. Not every one of them are sales and marketing people, and I think sometimes they get to a boardroom and they just can’t convey the right message because they’re technical. I just really want to crack that code so when an MSP walks into that room, they’re going in there with confidence.”

Excitement for the Future

Tomaszewski is looking forward to the new season, for both his beloved Lions and the MSP community.

“I am absolutely excited for the NFL season to be kicking off and can’t wait to go to some games with the family this year,” he says.

Similarly, “I believe we’re building something that is going to change this industry,” he says. “We are going to change community. We’re going to change MSP growth. And we are going to be a program that really aligns on giving people their time back and helping them with their purpose, their business, and their profits.”
