SonicWall Advances Its Platform Strategy with MSP-Focused Next-Gen Network Security Solutions

Today, SonicWall announced the launch of a full suite of products and services built specifically for MSPs and their clients. These new offerings include Managed Protection Service Suite (MPSS) Firewall Management with 24/7 monitoring, which allows MSPs to offer managed firewall services backed by SonicWall’s SonicSentry Network Operations Center (NOC) team. Also new is the cloud-native SonicPlatform, which was designed specifically for MSPs and will simplify operations, maximize visibility, and reduce cyber exposure. In addition, SonicWall is offering a new cyber warranty.

A Look at the SonicWall Next-Gen Network Security Solutions

“SonicWall’s new standard for cybersecurity marks a pivotal moment in our evolution as an innovator expanding into a platform-based cybersecurity leader,” SonicWall President and CEO Bob VanKirk (pictured above) tells MSP Success. “As we continue to listen to our partners and evolve with their changing needs, we are consolidating fragmented tools into one secure, scalable, and smart platform. With this launch, we are bringing together industry-leading firewall threat performance, cloud-based ZTNA to replace legacy VPNs, co-managed NOC and SOC services, and an industry-first cybersecurity warranty so MSPs have every tool they need to ensure the businesses they serve are safe, in a scalable and cost-effective way.”

These new innovations come as a direct response to SonicWall’s MSP partners’ feedback, and are designed to enable MSPs to best protect their clients, while remaining affordable for smaller-scale MSPs.

Some of the new features include:

  • Next-Generation Firewalls (NSa 2800/3800), designed to provide SMB environments with advanced threat protection.
  • Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), a one-click connector for secure, simple, policy-based access.
  • Managed Protection Service Suite (MPSS), backed by SonicSentry NOC team. This bundle ensures firewalls are configured, deployed, and updated correctly.
  • SonicPlatform, a unified, cloud-native platform for centralizing management of all SonicWall appliances, services, and third-party integrations.
  • SonicWall AI for Monitoring & Insight (SAMI), embedded AI/automation to streamline management, speed up resolution, and reduce alert fatigue.

Helping MSPs Move Toward a Cloud Model

The core of this new launch isn’t the tools themselves, but how SonicWall can best support their MSP partners, according to company executives. “[Today’s] announcement is a culmination of efforts to support our MSPs and provide the next generation of security solutions, built for MSPs. That is very intentional. Yes, we’re bringing to market new capabilities and [tools], but it’s not about any single stove pipe. It’s about all of those [things] together, and how we’re leveraging them to better support our MSP community,” says VanKirk.

Matt Neiderman

“Our MSP community is very diverse,” adds SonicWall CSO Matt Neiderman. “We have small 6-employee MSPs, all the way up to very large national MSPs. One of the big gaps this launch is addressing is [helping MSPs move to] a cloud version of what they do. This firewall will come with embedded ZTNA licenses. We’re going to help our partners implement and manage those. It’s a way for them to get away from some of the legacy SSL VPN and legacy VPN appliances and start moving towards a cloud-services model.”

The other gap this launch is designed to address is the limited resources many MSPs are dealing with. “A lot of our MSPs don’t have the bandwidth or the resources to be able to offer a 24/7 NOC team, for instance. We’re coming in with a co-managed offering, giving them best practices and configurations, and making sure their customers are compliant,” says Neiderman.

With that managed offering also comes a $200,000 cyber warranty. “We know that access and affordability is a big gap for a lot of MSPs and their customers [when it comes to] cyber insurance,” Neiderman says. “So here’s warranty coverage, just because we’re helping you co-manage that firewall.”

More to Come on the Network Security Front

The new platform is exclusive to SonicWall partners and is available now for North American MSPs. It will be rolled out globally in a few weeks.

VanKirk and Neiderman hinted at more exciting things to come, including integrations for the new platform. “This is the beginning,” says VanKirk. “We’re going to have much more coming later this summer and throughout the year on [the network security] front.”

Neiderman also mentioned big endpoint security and managed services announcements on the horizon, so stay tuned for more news from SonicWall this summer!
