This article is written by regular contributor Mike Michalowicz, author of The Pumpkin Plan and numerous other books, including his most recent, All In: How Great Leaders Build Unstoppable Teams. On this Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S., he shares his thoughts on the power of gratitude for himself and for all business leaders.
As we reach the close of another year, I’ve been reflecting deeply on what this journey of entrepreneurship really means to me, and us, as a community. This year wasn’t just about meeting goals or driving sales; it was about showing up every single day with purpose, resilience, and a commitment to serving others. And, honestly, I couldn’t be more grateful to be on this journey alongside you.
The Heart Of Our Work: Serving People, Not Just Running A Business
Building a business isn’t just about making a profit. It’s about creating something that impacts others. Every decision we make is about serving people, whether it’s our customers, team members, or communities. I’m reminded every day that this journey isn’t something we take alone. Each person I’ve had the honor to work with and learn from has brought something unique, helping me grow and reminding me of the power of a shared mission.
In my own business, I’ve seen that the key to sustainable growth is a team that feels empowered, appreciated, and aligned with our mission. The people who work with us are often the ones in the trenches, solving problems and showing resilience—even when things get tough. Without them, none of what we do would be possible. So today, and as the year-end nears, I want to pause and give a heartfelt thank you to all employees, not just for the work you do but for the heart and passion you bring.
The Power Of Gratitude In Our Day-To-Day
Gratitude can sound like a simple concept, but it’s transformative. When we actively express gratitude, it builds trust, deepens connections, and reminds us of what we’re really here to do. This past year, I’ve tried to make a conscious effort to show gratitude regularly, not just to my team but to each customer and partner who makes this journey meaningful.
I encourage all MSP business owners to reflect on the impact your business has on the world around you. You’re not just selling products or services—you’re creating a ripple effect of value. Every customer you help, every product you develop, and every solution you offer contributes to something bigger than any single sale. This acknowledgment that we’re part of something larger is where gratitude can truly shift our perspective and deepen our sense of purpose.
Stepping Into 2025: Leading With Gratitude And A Commitment To Serve
As we look to the year ahead, let’s take this mindset of gratitude with us. We know challenges are part of the deal, but with a foundation of gratitude and purpose, we’re equipped to face them. Let’s support one another, invest in our teams, and continue to serve with heart and intention.
Thank you for walking this journey with me and for everything you contribute to your MSP business and community. Here’s to an incredible year ahead—one where we continue to build, serve, and make an impact that’s more than just successful but truly meaningful. Wishing you health and wealth.
